Hi Everyone,

My name is Sofia and from now on, together with Jürg, I will be keeping you up-to-date with the latest match racing news from all around the world on MATCHRACE.CH.
But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Sofia Truchanowicz and I come from Poland, a country that for some people is definately too cold during winter time. Still believe me that it is a remarkable place rich in many fantastic sailing spots. And match racing is also becoming more and more popular... But I guess I will have enough time to tell you a bit more about Polish Match Racing in due course.

My first experience with sailing began when I was 7 and my Dad decided to put me into Optimist. Did I like it? Yes, and that's how my adventure with sailing started. Then I was changing classes year by year and finally become the national judge that opened new horizons in front of me. I instantly decided to do my international practice and thanks to the wonderful people I had a pleasure to work with and who were sharing their experience with me I was appointed as an International Judge in 2004. However I was still missing something, some more adrenaline on-the-water. If you stop competing yourself you constantly feel hunger when being on the water as a judge. 3 years ago I did my first match race event and that was exactly what I was looking for. Mixture of fight, fun, excitement was enough to convince me that I want to choose this path.

I guess I am a very lucky person as I have an opportunity to do what I like. Working for the Polish Yachting Association, judging, umpiring and now writting about the most exciting format of racing is more than you could dream of. I deeply hope that together we will spread the match racing game around the world and seed a passion in other people's hearts.
